In Ambushed we investigate a rash of black bear attacks on people in Canada. Through eyewitness accounts and detailed analysis of the attack scenes, we begin to piece together the puzzle. A bad berry crop the year after a drought is stressing the animals food supply… a spring hunting moratorium several years in a row has led to a surge in the number of young bruins… an especially warm summer brings more people into bear country than ever before. But our investigation suggests a much more disturbing reason behind these attacks…Could it be that some black bears have learned to see humans as prey?
Shark Invasion asks why sharks in Brazilian beach resorts have suddenly begun savaging tourists. Where did the sharks come from? And what can the locals, who thrive on tourist income, do to stop the attacks in what is fast becoming shark city?
Black Death examines the strange phenomenon of normally placid Cape buffalo delivering lethal blows to hunters in Tanzania. An investigation unravels a chilling revelation of the beast’s cunning intelligence.
Isle of the Cougar visits Canada’s Vancouver Island, where cougars have attacked humans. Two teams of experts investigate six of these rare encounters including an attack on a four year-old girl who is defended by her mother and a tugboat captain who fights for his very survival. Their analysis sheds new light on the attacks and reveals the surprising factors that combine to make this the Isle of the Cougar.
Gators looks at the shocking case of a woman in Ft, Lauderdale, Florida, who is attacked and killed by an alligator. Just five days later the news goes from bad to worse when not one but two more women become victims- killed by alligators in St. Petersburg and Ocala. The American Alligator is an efficient and opportunistic hunter, but alligators in Florida have seldom preyed on humans. So why does it seem that they are now becoming man-hunters? Two teams of experts attempt to discover the common thread that links all three tragic attacks.
Hippos takes us to the Okavango Delta in Africa, the largest oasis on the planet. It is this wild and exotic environment that draws a newlywed couple to celebrate their honeymoon. But in the blink of an eye, their amazing experience takes a horrific turn. A few days later, tragedy strikes again when experienced river guide and former Miss South Africa is attacked. Two attacks in the span of eight days leave one person dead and another seriously injured. Interviews reveal an incredible finding: their assailant was a hippopotamus. Two teams of experts attempt to discover the cause of these violent attacks, shedding light on the darker side of hippo behaviour and analyzing their bizarre, aggressive and sometimes violent ways.
